Intimate 6-Seat Omakase in Potts Point
About Kisuke
Step into Kisuke and be transported to the warm ambience of Tokyo. This intimate 6-seat omakase restaurant in the heart of Potts Point’s vibrant Llankelly Place is a labor of love from owner-chef Yusuke Morita and his wife Izumi, who greets guests in her beautiful kimono. The minimalist wooden interior creates a serene, pocket-sized dining experience where every detail is crafted with precision and passion.
Born in Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan, Chef Morita entered the culinary world straight after high school. Trained in traditional washoku (Japanese cuisine), he ventured abroad to gain international experience at renowned establishments including Hotel Okura in Amsterdam and Tatsuso in London. Morita arrived in Australia in 1994 to work at Suntory Restaurant in Sydney’s CBD, climbing the ranks to become head chef in 1998 until its closure in 2000.
For over a decade, Morita’s devoted fans—especially those who loved his sushi—followed him wherever he worked. In 2012, he opened Kisuke in Willoughby, an à la carte restaurant where his following steadily grew for eight years. When that location closed in 2020, it marked the beginning of a new chapter: opening this intimate omakase restaurant in Potts Point where Chef Morita can focus on just six guests at a time, showcasing his culinary skills and creativity while personally engaging with diners.
