I’ve been to Vandal a couple of times and I still can’t believe it’s entirely vegan. The set menu takes you on an incredible flavour journey — you start with gorgeous guacamole and chips and from there it’s a nonstop buzz of amazing tastes! Six dishes for $39 is genuinely one of the best value dinners in Sydney. We also enjoyed a bottle of Cabernet Malbec that paired beautifully with the spicy Mexican flavours. Just make sure to book ahead — it’s always packed for good reason!

As a vegan of 9 years I can confidently say this is the greatest vegan food I’ve ever eaten. The service was wonderful, the staff were knowledgeable and passionate and the food was extraordinary. We had the set menu plus churros for dessert. I’m not normally a mock meat lover but Vandal completely won me over! The warm outdoor patio on a cooler evening was just magical. If I didn’t live in Melbourne I would be here every single week. 10 out of 10!

Came for Taco Tuesday with friends and it was an absolute blast. $4 tacos plus a $15 frozen margarita — the blood orange flavour was outstanding. The eggplant taco and the mushroom quesadilla are to die for. I could honestly eat here every day. Amazing vegan food, incredible cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere that is uniquely Newtown. My partner and I are already regulars and we haven’t run out of things to try!

The Birria Nachos with 8-hour barbacoa are extraordinary. What really sets Vandal apart is the commitment to sustainability: solar-powered ovens, upcycled furniture by their resident spray-paint artist, and locally sourced produce from within 20 minutes of the restaurant.
