Great restaurant with a very laid-back vibe — the food was amazing and my wife loved her cocktail. The waitress prepared the guacamole right at the table which was a lovely touch and the staff were genuinely lovely throughout. The new Surry Hills space is warm, intimate and just the right size for a proper evening out. Slightly pricey but absolutely worth it for the quality and atmosphere. I have been introducing friends and family to Méjico for years and they all become disciples immediately. The Hiramasa kingfish ceviche with aji amarillo and grapefruit is extraordinary — light, zingy and deeply refreshing. The grass-fed beef rump tacos with salsa roja and charred corn are what dreams are made of. The new Surry Hills location has more soul than ever before — the courtyard is gorgeous and the cocktail menu is outstanding. They somehow just keep getting better!

Came for Margarita Monday and it was one of the best value nights out I’ve had in Sydney. The $10 frozen margaritas are absolutely delicious — the hibiscus flavour is the standout. We shared the ‘Feed Me’ set menu and every single dish was a highlight. The eggplant tatemada with silken tofu is one of the most surprising and satisfying dishes I’ve eaten all year. Brilliant service, gorgeous room, wonderful atmosphere — Méjico just continues to deliver every single visit.

Méjico is not just a Mexican restaurant — it’s a complete experience. The tequila and mezcal masterclass is one of the most entertaining and educational things you can do in Sydney. Our sommelier was knowledgeable, funny and genuinely passionate. After the class we sat down to the share menu: the spanner crab tostada, roasted cauliflower with chipotle and the duck carnitas were standouts. The new outdoor courtyard on a warm Sydney evening is absolutely magical. Sydney is very lucky to have this restaurant!
